Michigan State basketball has been more like a MASH unit than a college hoops team this season.

Tom Izzo, who has been the head coach pushing 20 years now, has really endured a ton. This has been unlike any team he has ever had.

First his star player Adreian Payne had a severe foot problem, Keith Appling had a wrist injury. Then Brandon Dawson broke his hand. All that with various bouts of mono, this squad has been through the war zone.

But now they have everyone healthy and won the Big Ten championship in Indy. Moments after that, they drew a No. 4 seed in the East Region of the NCAA tournament and will play Delaware Thursday. Michigan State was No. 1 in the country for three weeks and ended up 22nd--because of an awful lot of injuries.

The fans don't like excuses, but reality is just what it is. If you take Mick Jagger and Keith Richards off the Rolling Stones you have no Stones. Now that they are back at full strength, Izzo's team is ready to get it done. It will not be an easy task getting to the Final Four, but this team is up to it. Hall of Famer Reggie Jackson's Nickname is "Mr. October" and Tom Izzo's nickname is "Mr. March."
