Motiejunas Trade Voided by Pistons
One of two deals made by the Detroit Pistons at the trade deadline has been voided by the club.
On Monday, it has been reported that the Detroit Pistons are voiding the deal that sent Joel Anthony and a protected first round pick to the Houston Rockets in exchange for Donatas Moitejunas and Marcus Thornton. Anthony was flipped to the Philadelphia 76ers for draft picks by the Rockets as part of a three team deal.
The Pistons have voided the deal after receiving an extension to review Motiejunas' health. The Pistons had until 6 P.M. eastern time today to void or allow the deal to pass.
Back injuries have kept him out of the Rockets lineup since December. He played in under 20 games with Houston and their D-League affiliate in Rio Grande.
Team specialists analyzing Motiejunas refused to clear him and so the deal was nullified by Pistons management.
Joel Anthony and the Pistons first round pick will return to the Pistons due to the voided deal.
The Pistons have lost their last five games as of this writing and are now two and a half games out of the playoff picture.
