How is the Most Dangerous City Determined?

The website Road Snacks used data from the FBI's 2020 Crime in the United States Report. The criteria that were used were violence and property crimes per capita. They also only looked at cities and townships with over 5,000 in population.

You can get the full breakdown of their methodology here.

What is the Most Dangerous City in Michigan?

Located on Lake Michigan in the southwestern part of the state, you'll find Benton Township. This is considered the most dangerous place to live in the state of Michigan. Unfortunately, Benton Township landed the same title last year as well.

According to Road Snacks, the township had the fourth highest property crime rate in Michigan for 2020, with residents facing a 1 in 22 chance of having their property stolen or damaged.

When it comes to violence, the township is the 16th highest in the state for rape cases.
