Michigan State is firmly on the bubble, and their NCAA tournament fate bears that out, according to a mock selection process.

Media met at NCAA headquarters this week for their annual runthrough of the NCAA tournament bracket selection. Michigan State was placed among four teams in the two play-in games, making the Spartans an 11 seed.

That's certainly not a preposterous position. MSU (16-8, 7-4) has had an inconsistent season, complete with a bad home loss to Texas Southern (11-12), a 2-6 record versus the RPI Top 50 and a 4-6 record versus the RPI Top 100.

Other Big Ten teams who made the tourney field were Wisconsin, Maryland, Ohio State, Illinois, Indiana and Iowa.
