Despite a Big Ten quarterfinal loss to Minnesota and only 19 wins on the season the Michigan State Spartans advanced to the NCAA tournament on an at-large bid.

Michigan State is a 9 seed and will face Miami (FL) in the first round of the NCAA tournament in the Midewest region. Kansas and the winner of NC Central and UC Davis play in the other matchup of the first weekend at Tulsa, OK. The Spartans play on Friday.

The Spartans were securely on the bubble just a couple of weeks ago and a run of four of five wins seemed to move them off of the bubble and solidly into the tournament, however the Spartans current run has seen them lose three of their last four games. Despite that, Michigan State's resume was good enough for an at-large bid.

This is Michigan State's 20th consecutive appearance in the NCAA tournament.
