Spartans Answer Back at Munn, Blank New Hampshire 2–0
This was the rebound we were looking for at Munn Ice Arena. The Michigan State Spartan Hockey team set itself up for a win tonight against New Hampshire, 2-0, and split the opening set in East Lansing.
This was less than 48 hours after the team had the gut-punching loss, but the team seemed to tighten every screw, and just enough to put the Wildcats away on night number two.
How MSU Flipped the Script
Trey Augustine faced 13 shots on the way to a tidy shutout. This is what we were expecting out of him after a chaotic opener. In front of him, MSU owned the puck and the shot clock while UNH spent long stretches 'eating their rubber', in attempts to survive.
The biggest breakthrough came late in the second when captain Matt Basgall stepped into the moment and snapped home the night's first tally. Porter Maartone, and Charlie Stramel helped accomplish the first tally.

That helped flip the tables early in the third, so the Spartans could double it when Patrick Geary crashed down the right channel to bury one from Martone. From there, it was game management, and Augustine vaccuming up the rest of the game.
Michigan State maintained discipline as well. They weren't able to cash in on a power play, but they did control the five-on-five flow and made a brief four-on-four, a late sequence that included a UNH five-minute major.
Boston University is on the list next. Will the Spartan Hockey team bring home another victory on the road?
