The Big Ten Conference announced on Wednesday that Michigan State will play Michigan this coming October 29th in Ann Arbor.

This is in contrast to what was reported throughout the 2021 football season that MSU would host Michigan for the second year in a row in East Lansing.

MSU has beaten Michigan two years in a row and 10 out of the last 14 seasons.  That includes the 2021 classic, which MSU won 37-33 in East Lansing last October 30th.

The MSU-U-M game is one of eight changes that the Big Ten Conference made on Wednesday to the 2022 conference football schedule.  In addition to that, the annual MSU-Indiana game for the Old Brass Spittoon will be in East Lansing on November 19th.  It was originally supposed to be earlier in the season.

Michigan State was also originally scheduled to play Ohio State on September 24th, but that has been changed to October 8th in East Lansing.  They will face Penn State on the road Thanksgiving weekend for the Land Grant Trophy.

The Spartans will have seven home games in the 2022 season.  They will open the regular season on Labor Day weekend against Western Michigan. That's followed by Akron on September 10th.  They open Big Ten play in East Lansing against Minnesota on September 24th.

MSU concluded the 2021 season at 11-2 and a 31-21 victory over Atlantic Coast Conference champion Pittsburgh in the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl on December 30th in Atlanta, Georgia.  MSU finished the season with a No. 9 national ranking in the Associated Press media poll.  And ended up 8th in the USA Today Coaches poll.
