There's a little more than three weeks before the Michigan State Men's Basketball team tips of its 2016-17 season against Arizona, and it can't come soon enough.

With a disappointing football campaign realizing itself in front of Spartan Nation, the basketball team got a respectable 9th place ranking in the preseason coaches poll. Mind you they have this ranking with Gavin Schilling nursing a knee injury.

The Spartans are the highest ranked Big Ten team in the Coaches Poll, and one of two B1G schools in the top 10 (Wisconsin, 10th). Other Big Ten schools ranked in the poll are Indiana (12th), Purdue (15th), and Maryland (21st).

The Big Ten is tied with the ACC with five teams ranked in the top 25 of this poll.

The top of the poll has Duke at number one followed by Kansas, Villanova, Kentucky and Oregon. All five received at least one first place vote.
