Michigan State football announced its schedule for the 2021 season on Thursday. Notably, Michigan State opens the season with a Big Ten match up on the road.

Northwestern will host the Spartans in the first week of the 2021 season, one year after the Spartans host the Northwestern Wildcats for the the 2020 season opener.

MSU's non-conference games include a home opener against Youngstown State, a first ever game against Western Kentucky and a much anticipated trip down to the University of Miami (Fl).

The Miami visit comes as a result of a home-and-home deal between the two schools that was reached before the Big Ten schedule was expanded to nine games in 2016.

Other tough games on the Spartan road schedule include visits to the Big House in Ann Arbor and down to the Horseshoe in Columbus within just three weeks.

A home game against Penn State splits the two.
