On the heels of a Spartan losing his season to injury, the other side of the rivalry loses a cog in Bryan Mone.

Mark Snyder of the Detroit Free Press reports that Mone has a fractured ankle, suffered in practice on Wednesday.

Both Mone (Nose Tackle) and Spartan Ed Davis (Linebacker) were set to be integral parts on their respective team's defenses in 2015.

Davis, a redshirt senior, could potentially apply for a sixth year of eligibility through a medical redshirt.

Mone, a true sophomore, still has time in front of him and as the possibility of redshirting this year to preserve his eligibility.

The injury probably cuts deep especially for Mone as he won't be able to play in front of friends and family this year. The Salt Lake City native will have to watch from the sidelines as his Wolverines take on his hometown Utes on September 3rd in each team's 2015 season opener.

Ryan Glasgow, a senior, is set to start for most all of the snaps this year at nose tackle this season. Third stringer Maurice Hurst Jr, will slot into Mone's spot on the depth chart, though most likely with less impact than Mone would have.

Tough breaks today for Sparty and Michigan.
