Update: U-M’s Brazdeikis, Poole, Matthews Declare For NBA Draft

University of Michigan men's basketball players, Ignas Brazdeikis (pictured, #13), Charles Matthews, and Jordan Poole announced on Tuesday that they have hired agents and will enter the June NBA Draft.

"Iggy", as he is called, was the Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 2019.  He averaged 15 points and 5 1/2 rebounds a game for Michigan, who lost to eventual national runner-up Texas Tech in the Sweet 16 of this year's NCAA Tournament.

Matthews is a redshirt junior, averaged 12 points and 5 rebounds for Michigan this season.  He transferred from Kentucky two years ago to join the Wolverines.

Poole, a sophomore, is best known for the three-point basket that beat Houston in the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2018.  He averaged almost 13 points a game this season.

Under new NCAA rules, the three players can hire agents without losing any future eligibility with their previous school.

"Under newly adopted NCAA rules, college players are allowed to retain the services of an agent during the evaluation process. If they choose to return to school, they must end the relationship with the agent and they will not lose any eligibility. Additionally, players can also now return to school after going undrafted without losing eligibility, but only if they have participated in the NBA combine."

The NBA's Early Eligibility Deadline is April 21st.  The Early Entry Withdrawl Date (The last day that potential draftees can withdraw from the Draft and return to school) is June 10th.  The NBA Draft is June 20th.
