Michigan and Michigan State Football; How Do They Rank?
Can you smell the fall yet? I heard Starbucks is just about ready to bring back their Pumpkin Spice Latte and that my friends means college football.
USA Today’s Amway Coaches Poll has just been released and you Wolverine fans might be happy and you Michigan State fans may be surprised.
The preseason college football poll ranks Michigan at #7 and to many people’s surprise Michigan State at #20.
Is this the year Michigan’s Coach Jim Harbaugh will finally prove that he is worth all the money Michigan is paying him? Yes last year they went 10-3 but they lost all three of their very high-profile games. They lost to Notre Dame to start the season, then to Ohio State at the end of the regular season and went out with a whimper when the lost to Florida in the Peach Bowl.
Michigan State ended up with a 7-6 record last year losing the Redbox Bowl to Oregon on New Year's Eve.
Does Michigan deserve a preseason ranking of 7th, or will they end up disappointing us like they did last year?
How about Michigan State, do they really deserve to be ranked 20th?
The top five in the Amway Preseason Poll are:
- Clemson
- Alabama
- Georgia
- Oklahoma
- Ohio State
The Big Ten did have a very strong showing with Penn State ranking 14th, Wisconsin 17th, Iowa 19th and Northwestern 25th. That means 7 out of the top 25 teams in this poll came from the Big Ten conference.
