Michigan AG To Review Sexual Assault Case Involving Michigan State Player

The Lansing State Journal is reporting that Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel's has requested information about the investigation of a sexual assault allegation against a basketball player at Michigan State University.

According to the report, officials with the Michigan State University Police Department provided the file of an investigation involving MSU basketball player Brock Washington to the Attorney General's office. It was reported Monday by a national sports outlet that charges would not be pursued by the Ingham County Prosecutor's Office.

The Lansing State Journal report says that the alleged incident took place on January 19, and that Washington was suspended by MSU Basketball Head Coach Tom Izzo on January 24. Izzo did not provide a reason for the disciplinary action.

Washington reportedly pleaded guilty, in a separate matter, to misdemeanor assault charges in March 2018 under the Holmes Youthful Trainee Act, giving younger aged offenders a non-public conviction if all probationary terms are met. It is not clear what his probationary terms are or were.
