A group of Michigan legislators wants the Detroit Lions to hire San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh (pictured) as the team's head coach for the 2021 season.

Saleh, who will be 42 in January, is a Michigan native (Dearborn Fordson HS) and went to college at Northern Michigan before embarking on his coaching career at Michigan State, Central Michigan, Georgia, and four NFL teams.

The Lions fired head coach Matt Patricia and general manager Bob Quinn last Saturday after their 41-25 loss to the Houston Texans on Thanksgiving Day at Ford Field.

Offensive coordinator Darrell Bevall will coach the team on an interim basis for the rest of the season.

The 4-7 Lions are at the 5-6 Chicago Bears on Sunday.  You can hear the broadcast on The Game 730 AM WVFN with the pregame beginning at 11:00 am.
