Detroit Lions starting QB Matthew Stafford won the Ed Block Courage Award for his ability to play through injuries and adversity by the Lions on Thursday morning.

Stafford, who was the team's first round draft choice (No. 1 overall) in 2009, has battled multiple injuries throughout his career.  He is currently having one of the best seasons of his career in 2016, throwing for 1,914 yards and 15 TD's through seven games.

The Ed Block Courage Award has been given out by the Lions since 1993.  The awards banquet is in November.
