The Big Ten Network announced on Wednesday that BTN's lead college football analyst, Matt Millen (pictured), will leave the broadcast booth effective immediately to focus on fighting a rare heart condition.

Here's BTN's statement, courtesy of their Twitter account:

Millen is a former Penn State star, and played for more than a decade in the NFL, winning four Super Bowl rings with the Oakland/L.A. Raiders, San Francisco 49ers, and the Washington Redskins, respectively.

He had been an NFL analyst with CBS and Fox before joining the Detroit Lions as an executive in 2001.  After his firing by the Lions, he returned to broadcasting, first with ESPN and for the last four seasons with the Big Ten Network.
