A massive brawl caught on camera at Greektown Casino is being scrutinized because bystanders say Michigan State Police officers didn't do enough.

But, as is usually the case, there appears to be more to the story.

What Happened in the Video?

Police were summoned to the casino on reports that approximately 30 people were involved in a fight.

Video from the weekend event shows the fight inside the food court at the Detroit casino. A woman was thrown to the floor and then a chair was thrown. As the brouhaha was winding down, a shirtless man rant past Michigan State Police officers who were on the scene.

Police Were Outnumbered

In the video below, you'll see Michigan State Police Officers on the perimeter of the casino's food court. Bystanders have been critical that the officers didn't do enough to control the fight on hand.

State police officers say they were simply outnumbered by the number of people involved in the incident. Police did, however, remove about 15 people from the casino. They say beyond that point, they had no jurisdiction over any of the participants.

No arrests were made after the incident.

Neighboring Business Owner Speaks Out

The owner of a nearby bar tells WDIV she thinks not enough is being done to control unruly people in the area.

“I don’t think there’s any prosecution when people are getting in trouble, so there’s no consequence for the actions,” owner Shellie Lewis said.

Lewis is the owner of the Old Shillelagh. She says police in the area are often outnumbered and that there's no accountability for when people break laws and other's safety is jeopardized.

A Nostalgic Look Back Inside the Infamous Auker Mansion of Grand Blanc

The big house with the large gates on Belsay Road in Grand Blanc, Michigan has been as mysterious as the man who built the massive 14,000+ square foot home that resembled more of a palace than a Midwest home. The late builder Eldon Auker was known for his creativity and flamboyance on some levels, his mansion reflected every bit of that. With its 20 foot ceilings, majestic staircase, and a 3000 square foot bedroom, the home was a showplace. Sold in 2020, it's hard to know if changes were made to the once amazing estate, but it's exciting to be able to take a little look back in time to what once was.
