In a cost-cutting move, the Mid-American Conference announced on Tuesday that the league is eliminating post season tournaments in eight sports, and modifying the format in the tournaments in nine others.

The league will get rid of the conference tournaments in baseball, softball, soccer, tennis, lacrosse, and field hockey.  While reducing the number of teams who qualify for tournaments in basketball, volleyball and six other sports as well.

The MAC has been hit hard with financial difficulties with the coronavirus pandemic taking away the NCAA Men's and Women's basketball tournaments and the cancellation of all spring sports.

The changes will be in effect for the next four seasons, and then at that time, the MAC will reevaluate how those tournaments are run.
