LOOK: Henry Ford’s Michigan Mansion for Sale for $975K
Want to own a piece of Motor City history? A home built for Henry and Clara Ford in 1908 has hit the market.
The Ford Motor Company magnates lived at the home in Detroit's Boston-Edison neighborhood 1908-1915.
According to MLive,
The Boston-Edison district, a historic neighborhood in the center of Detroit, attracted the city's wealthy and most influential automotive and business leaders in the early twentieth century.
In addition to the Fords, the neighborhood was also home to four of the seven Fisher brothers (of the Fisher Body Company) and leaders of Packard, Cadillac, and General Motors.
The Fords' Boston-Edison home is now on its fourth set of owners, who, according to the listing, are "true historians and archivists".
They seemed to have maintained a lot of the home's historical charm!
The landmark property is on the market for $975,000.
With four bedrooms, five bathrooms, and 7,263 square feet, the home also boasts:
- Beautiful hardwood floors
- Private library
- Sleeping porch
- Original bathrooms with Pewabic tile
- Kitchen with original scullery and butler's pantry.
- Elaborate gardens and private yard
- Carriage house, with additional living and guest space
