Mason Bulldog football has been led by Jerry VanHavel for over a quarter century. On Thursday that run ended when coach VanHavel announced he would be stepping down to take on a new position.

 

 

 

Jerry VanHavel is following his son, Jarrett VanHavel, to D3 Mount Union where he will serve as a recruiting coordinator. His son Jarrett signed with Mount Union in 2015, redshirting this past season.

Jarrett currently stands as a redshirt freshman eligibility wise, and is listed as a linebacker by the school's athletic website.

Over his 26 years as the head coach, Jerry VanHavel led Mason to 15 playoff appearances and had two regional finals appearances in 1995 and 2014. His record as head coach is 169-88 with Mason.
