One day after putting outside linebacker Romeo Okwara on season-ending injured reserve because of an Achilles tendon injury, the Detroit Lions put Pro Bowl center Frank Ragnow on injured reserve due to a toe injury.

He was injured in Sunday's 24-14 loss to the Chicago Bears.  The Lions are now 0-4 after that loss.

Ragnow (pictured) has been battling "turf toe" all season long, and even though he's not on season-ending injured reserve, he is expected to be out several weeks.  Backup Evan Brown will likely get the start on Sunday at the Minnesota Vikings.

In addition to the Ragnow injury, first-year tackle Penei Sewell (this year's first-round pick) is battling an ankle injury and will likely be hindered against Minnesota.  And starting left tackle Taylor Decker has missed all the games so far this season due to an injury, and he's next expected to play Sunday either.  So Sewell has had to play left tackle instead of his natural right tackle position.

Ragnow made the Pro Bowl for the first time last season for the Lions and was second-team All-Pro.  He was drafted by Detroit back in 2018 out of Arkansas.  Up until this week, he had started all 49 games that he had played in.

The Lions signed Ragnow to a four-year contract extension this past offseason worth $54 million.  They did so just after exercising the fifth-year option on his contract (he's signed through the 2026 season).
