Detroit Lions outside linebacker Romeo Okwara (pictured above) is out for the remainder of the season due to an Achilles tendon tear suffered in Sunday's 24-14 loss to the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field, according to multiple media reports.

Okwara is now the second Lions player to be lost for the season due to an Achilles tear.  Second-year cornerback Jeff Okudah is out for the year after suffering the injury in Week 1 against the San Francisco 49ers.

Romeo, who is a Notre Dame alum, signed a 3-year, $37 million contract to remain with the Lions this past offseason, foregoing a trip into the free agency pool.  He went undrafted in 2016 but signed with the New York Giants before hooking on with Detroit.

Romeo's younger brother Julian (also a Notre Damer) is also on the Lions roster.  Julian is in his second season with the club.

Romeo has six total tackles and one sack in four games so far this season.  Charles Harris, Austin Bryant, and the aforementioned Julian Okwara will be counted on to replace Romeo and provide pressure on the quarterback.

The 0-4 Lions are at the division rival Minnesota Vikings, who are 1-3 so far this season, this coming Sunday.  You can hear the broadcast on The Game 730 AM WVFN beginning with the pregame at 12 noon.

On a side note, Lions Pro Bowl center Frank Ragnow also left the game due to a toe injury suffered in the first half of the game.  He did not return to the contest.  Backup center Evan Brown finished the game.  Ragnow's status for next Sunday's game is uncertain at this time.
