The NFL has announced the nominees for the Walter Payton Man of The Year Award.  Lions linebacker, Devon Kennard has been named Detroit's nominee

According to M-Live, Kennard follows Matthew Stafford from last year as the Lions nominee for this season.  Each team in the NFL has one player nominated for the award which recognizes work in the community and on the field.

Kennard currently has 6 sacks and has forced a fumble and returned one for a touchdown.

A Lions player has yet to win the award which was first awarded back in 1986. Previous winners have included names like Chris Long, J.J. Watt, Larry Fitzgerald and Eli Manning.

The winner of the award will be announced coming up Super Bowl Weekend.  The award will be given away during the NFL honors show the day before Super Bowl LIV.
