Mike Santorelli put a shot past Jimmy Howard in a shootout to give the Toronto Maple Leafs a 2-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings Wednesday night at Joe Louis Arena. After a scoreless first period, Detroit (17-6-6) opened the scoring at the 17:52 mark in the second when Gustav Nyquist found the back of the net, Toronto (16-9-3) then tied the game in the third when Phil Kessel scored on Howard. The two teams finished regulation and overtime tied and in the shootout, Pavel Datsyuk drew first blood but that was all that the Red Wings could muster as Tyler Bozak scored setting up Santorelli's game winner. Howard finished 18 saves on 19 shots and his Maple Leafs counterpart James Reimer stopped 41 of 42 shots. Detroit takes the ice again Friday night when the Florida Panthers come to Hockeytown. Puck drops at 7:30pm on Lansing's Sports Station The Game 730 WVFN.
