It's time for the district finals in girls basketball in Mid-Michigan.  We've got some top-level matchups on Friday night.

In Class A, Haslett tries to beat DeWitt for a third time at Haslett HS.  At Richland-Gull Lake, a pair of top ten teams battle for a regional berth as the host Richland-Gull Lake Blue Devils host the 20-2 Grand Ledge Comets.

In Class B at Olivet, a pair of CAAC Gold rivals face each other for a third time when Jackson Northwest takes on Eaton Rapids.  At Williamston, one of the great stories this year, 19-3 Perry, goes against the host Hornets.  At Wayland Union HS, Ionia and Portland play for a district title.  Ionia won the first matchup in the regular season.  And at Durand, Corunna, with Peyton Birchmeier, tries to upset the two-time defending state champion Goodrich Lady Martians.

In Class C at Springport, the 9-12 Dansville lady Aggies are facing the host Springport squad.  And at Carson City-Crystal, the host Eagles will tangle with 16-6 Laingsburg.

And in Class D at Fulton, 15-5 Portland St. Pat's goes for another district title against 15-6 Fowler.  The big surprise this week was 9-11 Lansing Christian upsetting Morrice in OT in the Class D district final on Wednesday.

Ok, time for predictions...I like Haslett over DeWitt for a third time.  I'll take Grand Ledge over Gull Lake.  I think the Comets tough schedule benefits them.  I think Eaton Rapids will get by Jackson NW, the Greyhounds have looked great this week in two blowout wins.  At Williamston, I like Perry in a mild upset over the CAAC White Co-Champs.  I also think Portland will get revenge on Ionia at Wayland.  And I think Goodrich will advance past Corunna.

In Class C, I'll take Dansville in an upset over Springport on the road.  And Carson City-Crystal will win a close game with Laingsburg.  And in Class D, Portland St. Pat's will get by Fowler to give coach Al Schrauben another district title.

I'll talk about the boys district tournament next week. But that's all for now, this is Brock Palmbos, signing off.....
