The district tournaments are going on this week for girls basketball teams all around the area.  We've got lots of potential thrillers for district finals coming up on Friday.  In Class A, Haslett and DeWitt are on track to play for a third time this season at Haslett HS.  At Richland-Gull Lake, top ten teams Grand Ledge and Richland-Gull Lake should settle that district.

In Class B, Jackson Northwest and Eaton Rapids split a pair of 33-30 games during the regular season.  Is a third one in store on Friday at Olivet HS??  At Williamston, the best story this season, 18-3 Perry should face the host Hornets for the title on Friday.  At Wayland, Portland looks to get revenge on Ionia if they meet in the final.  The Lady Bulldogs beat Portland just a couple of weeks ago.

In Class C, Wednesday's P-W-Carson City-Crystal winner should face Laingsburg.  And in Class D, Morrice and Portland St. Pat's look to move on to the regionals after falling in the districts last season.

The big surprise so far in the district tournament has been Eaton Rapids blowout win over 19-1 Olivet on Monday.  It's not a shock that Eaton Rapids won, but by a 69-29 score???  That was stunning to me.  Which of the above teams mentioned will be upset???  We'll wait and see this week.  If you can get out to a district tournament, I highly recommend it.  It's great entertainment at a cheap price.

I'll preview the girls district finals and the boys district tournaments later this week.  But for now...that's all for now.  This is Brock Palmbos...signing off.
