Lansing Lugnuts Invited To Join Oakland A’s System

The Lansing Lugnuts announced on Wednesday that the team has been invited to join the minor league system of the 2020 American League West Champion Oakland Athletics.

Under this invitation, the Lugnuts would become the High-A affiliate of the Oakland A's.  The Luggies have been the Low-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays since 2005.  Lansing has been affiliated before that with the Chicago Cubs and the Kansas City Royals since the inaugural season of 1996.

The Lugnuts were supposed to celebrate the team's 25th anniversary in 2020, but did not play at all because of the continuing coronavirus pandemic.  The 25th season is expected to begin in April of 2021.
