Nonprofit groups exist in mid-Michigan to help those in need. There are some amazing groups at work to help the less fortunate. These nonprofit groups are offering locations to donate things in Lansing to help those in Lansing.

The key word in community is unity. As human beings, we have a responsibility to take care of ourselves and to look out for other humans that are having a tough time. Thankfully over the past 25 + years of broadcasting in mid-Michigan, I've witnessed the strength of our community. I've hosted dozens of fundraisers for nonprofit groups in the area. Each and every time, members of our community have stepped up to help.

There are different ways that someone can help support a nonprofit. In doing so, you are supporting the community. Monetary donations are always appreciated and will go the furthest with a nonprofit when it comes to fulfilling its mission. You can also volunteer time; nonprofits are often understaffed and a few hours of your time will help them immensely. Donating clothing, blankets, day-to-day essentials, toys, food and more is also an amazing way to help.

Many of the groups listed below will accept donations on-site. The best thing you can do is check out their website to see if there is a wish list or you can call the nonprofit group to inquire about what they are in need of right now.

Don't forget the pets. There are some really good groups doing amazing things for animals.

Supporting nonprofit groups is a good thing to do all year, but the holidays can be especially taxing on them. Please help if you can by donating items, food, money, and time.

Lansing Little Free Library—Here's Where You Can Get Some Free Books

These adorable little libraries are located all over the Lansing area. It's an opportunity to grab something new to read while you're out and about. Maybe you're walking the dog and spy one of these fairy-home-looking mini-libraries, you can pop over and see what kinds of books neighbors have left in it. It's also an excellent chance to interact and help out the community. It's kind of like take-a-book, leave-a-book. If you need a book, please have one. And if you have the means to leave a book, please do.
