Lansing Catholic QB Wins HS Student-Athlete Of The Week
Dowding Industries and the Lansing Sports Commission present the High School Student-Athlete of the Week.
And this week's honoree is Alex Fernandez, the senior quarterback on the Division 6 regional champion Lansing Catholic football team.
Alex was sensational last Saturday, as he accounted for all 7 touchdowns in the Cougars 49-36 upset win over Newaygo on the road in the regional finals.
His 371 yards passing and 103 yards rushing paved the way for Catholic into this Saturday's Division 6 semifinal matchup against Boyne City at Clare HS.
Fernandez is a three-sport athlete at Lansing Catholic, playing basketball in the winter and playing baseball in the spring.
Alex is a great student, carrying a 3.9 grade point average. And his coach, Jim Baker, says that he wants to attend medical school once his high school career is finished.
