Lansing Catholic's veteran football coach Jim Ahern joined Staudt On Sports Monday morning and said his school plans on having its new football stadium ready for the coming season this fall.

Ahern said construction could start in April and only takes 30 to 60 days to install the field surface. The new venue will have artificial turf, he added.

Lansing Catholic has been playing a majority of its home games at Holt Junior High School's Troost Field for about the past decade. The Cougars usually play one home game at Lansing Catholic High School's "rock pile," the current field which doesn't have adequate seating or lighting.

You can hear Ahern talk about the new stadium in the video above.
