Lansing-Area High School Football Power Rankings: Week 8
Congratulations to DeWitt, Portland, and Lakewood for clinching league titles last week.
That fact reflects a slight change in this week's rankings. There's also a slight change near the bottom of the rankings.
Two weeks left in the regular season...on with this week's rankings.
- 1
Portland (7-0, 5-0)
Last Week: No. 1The Red Raiders continue to impress with big time victory after big time victory. Clinched the CAAC White title after crushing Williamston. They go to Olivet this week.
- 2
DeWitt (7-0, 5-0)
Last Week: No. 3The Panthers looked impressive against St. Johns in Week 7. Their defense contained the Red Wings running backs very well. A tough road trip and game at Menominee is this Friday.
- 3
Grand Ledge (7-0, 5-0)
Last Week: No. 2The Comets have taken care of everybody in the CAAC Blue thus far. They can still move up in the poll if they beat East Lansing and Holt in the final two weeks.
- 4
Lakewood, (7-0, 5-0)
Last Week: No. 4Nick Boucher is the area coach of the year, leading the Vikings to their first league title over three decades. Two more wins make them 9-0 for the first time since 1974.
- 5
P-W (7-0, 6-0)
Last Week: No. 5Running back Jared Smith is having an unbelievable season for coach Jeremy Miller. The Pirates go for the outright CMAC title against arch-rival Fowler at home this Friday.
- 6

Last Week: No. 6It's been a running clock in the second half of all their games this season for the Yellow Jackets. It'll be that way until the playoffs.
- 7

Last Week: No. 7The Cougars have recovered from the Portland loss and have re-established themselves as a legitimate state title contender.
- 9
Fowler (6-1, 5-1)
Last Week: No. 10The Eagles struggled over Saranac last week. But they can clinch a share of the CMAC championship if they win at P-W on Friday night.

Last Week: UnrankedThe Rams have righted themselves after an 0-2 start. Two more wins give them the outright CAAC Blue title before a possible home game in the playoffs.
