Lansing-Area H.S. Football Top 10 Poll – (After Week 1/Playoffs)
Before the playoffs began last week, there were 21 Lansing-area teams alive for state titles in nine different divisions.
After one week of playoff action, we are now down to 12 area teams alive for district championships this coming weekend.
Teams like Grand Ledge, Williamston, Sexton, St. Johns, and Everett saw their seasons come to an end with losses in Round 1. Congratulations to all of them for making the playoffs in the first place, that isn't easy to do.
The game of the night last week happened in 8-Player, Division 2 as Morrice scored in the final 30 seconds to avenge their only loss of the season and defeat Portland St. Patrick, 28-22. The most stunning part of that game was that it was SCORELESS at the half. Yep, that's right. It was 0-0 after 24 minutes of play.
The three undefeated teams (DeWitt, Portland, and Fowler) all won easily to advance to Round 2.
CAAC Red champ Mason is still alive for another district title after winning last week over Jackson. And Cascades Conference champion Leslie is still alive in Division 7 after crushing Burton Atherton.
