Lansing-Area H.S. Football Top 10 Poll – After Regional Finals
There are six area teams still alive for state titles after last week's regional championship games.
That is a surprise to many area football observers. Last year, East Lansing, Mason, and Portland made it to the semifinals with Mason making it to Ford Field (where they lost to Grand Rapids Forest Hills Central).
East Lansing got five touchdown passes from QB Ben Fletcher in a blowout victory over Saginaw Heritage. DeWitt scored 70 points once again and rode that to a 70-34 victory over Petoskey.
Lansing Catholic QB Alex Fernandez accounted for all 7 touchdowns in the Cougars' upset victory over Newaygo last Saturday.
Fowler got almost 200 yards passing from senior QB Jacob Halfmann in their 25-7 victory over Harbor Beach. While Mason won their fourth straight regional title by knocking off Walled Lake Western, 22-17 on the road.
And Morrice will play for the 8-Player, Division 2 state title after shutting out Britton-Deerfield, 36-0 on the road last Saturday.
Haslett, Leslie, P-W, and Portland saw their seasons come to an end after suffering losses this past weekend in the regional finals. Portland lost in the final two minutes to Niles on the road, 37-34.
Here is this Saturday's state semifinal schedule featuring area teams. All games are this Saturday at 1:00pm.
