Lansing Area Girls Basketball Top 10 Poll

The girls basketball season started a week later than the boys did this season.  So there are fewer games played to use as background for the first girls basketball top poll for the season in the Lansing area.

There are only three undefeated teams as we enter the New Year:  Portland (5-0), Pewamo-Westphalia (6-0), and Webberville (4-0)

Other top teams are: Holt, DeWitt, Haslett, Williamston, St. Johns, East Lansing, Leslie, and Lansing Christian.  All make it into this season's initial poll.

The shot of the year so far is P-W's Elly Bengal hitting a halfcourt shot to beat East Lansing 66-63 in double overtime on the road.  That's also probably the game of the year so far.

This coming week, DeWitt heads north to play Traverse City Central and T.C. West on back to back days.  St. Johns plays in the Reed City holiday tournament.  And 6-0 P-W hosts Flint Powers on Friday.

Just like the boys, I will update the poll on a weekly basis after the New Year.  And it's just my opinion as to the top 10 teams are in the area.  But I could be wrong!!!!
