Lansing Area Boys Basketball Top 10 Poll
This is the first high school basketball poll of the 2024-25 regular season. Just like in football, I wanted the regular season to play out a bit before coming up with a top 10 poll.
And while teams like East Lansing, Waverly, Mason, and Pewamo-Westphalia haven't surprised anybody by their excellent starts, but...
Teams that have surprised so far this season (in a positive sense) are Okemos, Portland, Fowler, and Webberville.
There aren't very many people that thought that Okemos would be 8-0 as we head to the New Year. Especially since they lost the Walton twins (Collin & Brennan) as well as Collin Alexander to graduation. But they are.
Portland is the only other unbeaten in the area at 6-0. East Lansing and Mason are 7-1. And Haslett, P-W and Webberville are all 6-1. All make it into the initial poll this week.
There's plenty of holiday invitationals going on this week, as well as your normal four-team tournaments like the Mason Holiday Hoops Tournament.

Oh by the way, the first girls high school basketball poll will be publicized tomorrow. All rankings are simply my opinion on the top ten teams in the Lansing area.
