Laingsburg Defense Carries Wolfpack to Rivalry Win
Laingsburg doesn't need any extra motivation to play Bath but holding on to the top spot in the conference adds a little extra fuel to the fire.
After last week's chaos in the CMAC which saw Dansville lose twice, the Laingsburg Wolfpack found themselves all alone at the top of the conference standings to begin play this week hosting their crosstown rivals. The Wolfpack put up a strong defensive effort, forcing Bath to single digits in three of four quarters in the game as Laingsburg won 46-27.
Bath made just one field goal in the first quarter and Laingsburg broke out to a strong start leading 14-2 after eight minutes of play. Bath would amp up the pressure going to a 3/4 and full court pressure at different times in the first half and early second half, however Laingsburg would find ways to break the press and keep the Bees at way, most times to the tune of a double digit lead.
Nick Putnam was the game's leading scorer with 14 points, and he made it a double-double kind of night with 12 rebounds. Wolfpack point guard Kam Brown had a full scoreline as well with 12 points, four rebounds, two dimes, four steals and a block.
Bath in the loss was led by Harry Gilstrap who had 10 points, including 4-4 from the free throw line, with five rebounds and an assist.
Laingsburg picks up their 10th win of the season to go to 10-3 and they stay atop the CMAC with a 9-1 conference record. Bath had a six game losing streak snapped as they fall to 7-6 with a 6-4 record in the conference.
