Former NBA Most Valuable Player Kevin Durant announced on Monday that he will sign with the Golden State Warriors and leave the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Durant did so on The Players Tribune, in an article titled "My Next Chapter."  Durant says that in order to grow as a basketball player and as a person he is "moving out of his comfort zone" and leave the only NBA franchise he has ever known.

Media sources say that the deal is for 2 years for $54.3 million with a player opt-out after next season.

Durant was the league's Most Valuable Player in 2014 and led the Thunder to the NBA Finals in 2012.
