Kellogg Community College Heads to Nationals as 4th Seed

For the seventh time in school history, the Kellogg Community College Bruins head off for a chance at the National title in the National Junior College Athletic Association.

The Bruins, fresh off of their Region XII championship in Sandusky, Ohio, and their third straight Michigan Community College Athletic Association title headed out of the Cereal City Wednesday and are headed to Enid, Oklahoma, for the NJCAA Division II Championship Tournament. It is KCC's first appearance in the tournament since 2015.

The Bruins are 39-13 on the season, which started with nine losses against nationally-ranked teams. Four of them were against the top-team in the nation, defending champion Louisiana State-Eunice. Three others were against then-second-ranked Sinclair Community College (Ohio), who was eliminated in the Region XII tourney by tournament runner-up Cuyahoga Community College (Ohio).

The tournament is a 10-team, double-elimination tournament that has the Bruins as the fourth seed. Out of the remaining teams, KCC is the second-highest ranked team nationally at 12^th in Division II. The highest ranked team, Pearl River (Mississippi), is the top-seed in the tourney. The Pearl River Wildcats ended LSU-Eunice's season in the Region XXIII (23) title game last week.

KCC will start off the National tourney Saturday, May 25^th, with hometown favorite Northern Oklahoma College-Enid. First pitch between the Bruins and the Jets is at 2pm. A win gives them the potential match-up with Pearl River on Monday night. A loss sends the Bruins to the loser's bracket for a Sunday morning contest at David Allen Ballpark.
