The Detroit Tigers will begin their 2017 campaign this week. The Tigers manager is of course Brad Ausmus. But, when former manager Jim Leyland was at the helm I still feel they were in better hands. Don't get me wrong I'm not gassing Ausmus but he's not Jim Leyland. Jim Leyland was always in command as a manager.

Jim Leyland was a half way decent catcher in the Tiger organization. He then was a coach for the Chicago White Sox. Then became a manager for the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Florida Marlins where he won a World Series, the Rockies where he was burned out and quit. I saw Leyland with the Cardinals as an instructor in Florida in 2015. I knew he would manage again and he did. Jim Leyland became the manager of the Detroit Tigers where they almost won a World Championship but could get it done.

Jim Leyland retired and became an adviser for the Tigers. Leyland was then asked by Joe Torre to manage team America in The World Baseball Classic. Well, then the team that Leyland and his staff put together won the whole universal tournament. That's right team USA beat Puerto Rico and won The World Baseball Classic. A great thing for this country. Again, Jim Leyland proved he is a great manager. I know the all of baseball feels the same way.
