Jeff Blashill To Return As Head Coach Of Red Wings Next Season

Detroit Red Wings general manager Ken Holland.announced on Tuesday afternoon that head coach Jeff Blashill would return to the Wings for next season, according to media reports.

Blashill guided the Winged Wheelers to a 30-39-13 record in 2017-18 as the team missed the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the second straight season.

The third-year coach has one year remaining on the original four-year contract that he signed to replace the departed Mike Babcock in 2015.

It was announced last Saturday that Holland would return as GM for the next two seasons by owner Chris Ilitch.
