Another cancellation due to the COVID-19 pandemic to report. The Jackson Civil War Muster scheduled for August 22-23 in Jackson's Ella Sharp Park, has been canceled. With 18,000 people expected to attend, it just wasn't going to work this year. According to MLive.com, they'll try it again next August.

This is the second year in a row it's been canceled. Last year the Muster was canceled in an effort to "reinvent" the event. And I guess, this year, a reenactment of the Civil Wars smallpox epidemic would've been a little too literal.

The Jackson Civil War Muster will return next year. It's already been scheduled for next August 21-22. If you've never been to the Muster, make plans now to be there next year. The battle reenactments are unbelievable. And you just might meet Abe (and Mrs.) Lincoln.
