Watch This Artist Paint a Mural in Ypsilanti in Under a Minute

Cory Schneider is an up-and-coming Michigan artist who is becoming known for her artwork and unique murals. The Ypsilanti resident just completed her biggest project to date, a 40 by 20-foot mural on the side of a building located in her hometown.

As an added bonus, Schneider documented the completion of the mural using a high-speed camera recording her every move. That video (which we've included below) captures Schneider as she completes the massive project, located at 9 Park St. in Ypsilanti.

Interactive Design

In a moment, you'll understand why Schneider refers to her mural as "interactive." We reached out to Schneider after seeing her work and she noted that she designed the piece to give people an opportunity to immerse themselves in the painting and maybe even take a few photos.

"When the viewer “sits” on the swing, it appears that they are swinging in a field of oversized flowers."

Artist's Inspiration

Ms. Schneider shared her thoughts on her latest project, saying she draws a lot of inspiration from nature. Schneider's comments have been edited for brevity and clarity.

"I focus my energy on bringing beauty to the community through bright-colored whimsicalness. I find my inspiration through nature, specifically flowers. My painted botanical landscapes provide a visual symbol that are universally recognizable as growth and rebirth. I use oversized blocks of colored flora outlined with black line patterns to showcase each flower's individuality and impermanence in a permanent way."
