Traveling through Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW) just got a whole lot more exciting! Whether you're flying in for a quick layover or embarking on a grand adventure, how you get there is all part of the experience and that includes the airport.

DTW is rolling out the red carpet with some fantastic new amenities designed to enhance your journey in a big way. It was announced this week that it will be adding 12 new shops, 6 new restaurants, and 2 innovative video game lounges to the McNamara Terminal.

“DTW is already the number one ranked mega airport in North America,” said Wayne County Airport Authority CEO Chad Newton in a press release. “These additions, with their Detroit-centric branding, will help us maintain our position among the top airports in the country, as we take Detroit to the world and bring the world to Detroit.”

So what will the new selection look like in the McNamara Terminal? Here's what to expect;

Restaurants:

  • 7greens (cafe).
  • Born in Detroit Kitchen + Bar.
  • Cask & Craft Local Spirits + Bites.
  • Dylan’s Candy Bar.
  • Dunkin’.Donuts
  • Wahlburgers.

Shopping:

  • 313 Exchange.
  • Corktown Place.
  • Detroit-VS-Everybody.
  • Eastside Golf.
  • Fuel Travel Shop.
  • Hip & Humble.
  • iStore.
  • iStore Express.
  • Johnston & Murphy.
  • Michigan Makers.
  • Motor City Essentials.
  • Motown Greatest Hits Travel Shop.

Gaming:

  • Gameway “Classic” Lounge.
  • Gameway “Ultra” Lounge

The gaming element is groundbreaking and sure to be a huge hit, especially for those travelers with longer layovers.

“We are thrilled to be opening two new Gameway locations at Detroit's McNamara Terminal,” said Gameway Co-Founder, Emma Walbridge. “As the first and only airport gaming company in the US, we're passionate about bringing entertainment to travelers across the country." Walbridge added,  "Our premium video game lounges will offer everything from the latest consoles like PS5 and Xbox Series X, high-end gaming PCs, to old-school classics on the original NES/SNES all while sitting on comfy seats and enjoying your favorite snacks and drinks".

 

Travelers at DTW will see all of the new restaurants set to open in 2025, and Corktown Place and Motown’s Greatest Hits Travel Shop the first shops to open in 2025. The other new additions are set to open over the next two years.
