National Retailer Raises Minimum Wage In Michigan to $19.25
With the cost of everyday items skyrocketing, workers across the country are feeling the pinch and looking for higher wages to keep up. As inflation drives up the prices of groceries, gas, and other necessities, earning a livable wage has never been more urgent and one national retailer is doing something about it.
In response, one popular national retailer is stepping up to support its employees—Hobby Lobby is raising its minimum wage to $19.25 an hour, starting this month. This pay increase is a significant boost for its hourly employees, providing much-needed financial relief as they face the rising cost of living.
The popular craft and DIY store is implementing the increase across its 1000+ stores across America including 34 stores in Michigan. The hike is much higher than the current average of $7.25 in the U.S.
"A pillar of our success is taking care of our employees," said Hobby Lobby founder and CEO, David Green in a press release. "For decades, we have closed our stores on Sundays, and at 8:00 p.m. the rest of the week, to help employees balance their work and personal lives, and have time for rest, family, and worship. We work hard to provide some of the best wages and benefits in retail, which allows us to attract and retain a great team of associates to serve our loyal customers."
Green went on to say that Hobby Lobby acknowledges the recent tough impact inflation has had on businesses, individuals, and families. He notes that the company is "thankful for our continued success as a company. As we head into the joyous holiday season, we are thrilled to share that success with thousands of our employees".
