Michigan’s Porcupine Mountains Wilderness has officially been named "America's Most Beautiful State Park". The team at Travel Lens analyzed the reviews on Yelp and TripAdvisor as well as Instagram popularity, and Google search data, to put together a list of the most beautiful U.S. State Parks and the Porcupine Mountains right at the top.

"We used a combination of Yelp and TripAdvisor to find out which state parks are the most aesthetically pleasing to visitors. More specifically we looked at the total number of reviews, as well as the number of reviews containing the words ‘beautiful’, ‘stunning’, and ‘breathtaking’ for each park."

The list came together after looking at more than 6,000 state parks. The iconic Porcupine Mountains topped the list with 89% of its Yelp reviews mentioning the breathtaking beauty of the park located in the northwestern Upper Peninsula of Michigan near the shore of Lake Superior.

To give you an idea of just how impressive the landscape is in Michigan’s largest state park lovingly known as the Porkies, the #2 pick was Smugglers’ Notch State Park in Vermont with only 76.19% describing it as beautiful.

Those unfamiliar with the area will find 60,000 acres, including the most extensive stand of old-growth northern hardwood forest in North America west of the Adirondack Mountains, spanning at least 31,000 acres. Visitors can enjoy waterfalls, rivers and streams, campgrounds, and more than 90 miles of hiking trails.
