Camping and Michigan simply go hand in hand. Condé Nast Traveler sought out the most amazing places across the country for those who love sleeping under the stars and being immersed in nature. They put together a list of the best places to set up camp and take it all in. Their team focused on looking for those camping gems that were both affordable and accessible and sat within the national or state parks system.

A well-known camping spot in northern Michigan beat out every single other camping site in the entire state for the number one spot to enjoy the great outdoors. Even the name sounds like pure tranquility...Twelvemile Beach Campground, Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Here's what CNTraveler.com had to say about one of the most beautiful places in Michigan;

According to the campsite website, there are 36 sites including 2 universally accessible sites. Twelvemile Beach has water, pit toilets, picnic tables, fire rings, an interpretive amphitheater, and of course breathtaking views.
