Michigan Teen Rescues Driver From Lake St. Clair
A Grosse Pointe, Michigan teen is being hailed a hero after rescuing a woman after she drove into Lake St. Clair in St. Clair Shores.
John Agnello, 15 told Click On Detroit he was fishing with his mother when a car drove into the water on Tuesday, July 23rd, 2024.
The teen and another man immediately jumped into the lake to help. Due to water pressure, the pair could not open the door to get the female driver out. Instead, they instructed the woman to roll down her window and were able to lift her out of the vehicle.
The unidentified driver told her rescuers that there was also a 3-year-old child still in the vehicle. The teen grabbed a rock, broke the back window, and discovered (luckily) that no one else was in the car.
The Michigan is indeed a hero. I am not sure who the other man involved with the rescue is, but he too is a hero.
How does John Agnello feel about being called a hero?
“I think that’s just how my family raised me, just to take action and all that stuff".
I am quite certain that his family is extremely proud of him. You can watch and listen to Agnello recount the story in his own words in the video below.
According to the New York Post, the crash is still under investigation.
