Hey MI, Never Run This Appliance When You’re Not at Home
We live in a world where Michigan residents are constantly on the go and time is sometimes considered more precious than money. It can be a real challenge to do normal household chores when you're always on the move.
Due to our fast-paced lifestyles, we tend to put a little too much faith in our appliances and expect them to seamlessly handle our tasks without considering the potential risks and the importance of responsible usage.
Even though we're told never to run appliances when we're not home or while we're sleeping, there is one that is downright dangerous.
Never Run This Appliance When You're Not at Home or Sleeping
Of all the appliances that you should never leave running when you're not at home, your dryer is at the top of the list. This is an extreme fire hazard.
According to The Household Advisor, over 15,000 fire breakouts from dryers are reported every year, with most of these fires resulting from negligence and careless use of these appliances.
I'm 100% guilty of throwing my clothes in the dryer when I walk out the door for work. I try so hard not to do it, but sometimes, I have to. In my defense, I always keep the lint traps and vents clean. I know that's still no excuse to do it. Look, I'm a work in progress. Maybe writing this article will help keep me in check.
You should never run any of your appliances when you're not home or sleeping including your washer, dryer, dishwasher, stove, and anything else that could be a potential flood or fire hazard.
