A TikTok video by 20-year-old Michigan creator Hanna Martinez has sparked significant conversation and concern surrounding allegations against local OBGYN Dr. Laurie Stanczak. With over half a million views, Martinez's video serves as a warning to women, particularly those in Macomb County, regarding troubling experiences at the Henry Ford Macomb County Labor and Delivery unit.

In her original post, Martinez detailed her own traumatic encounter, claiming that Dr. Stanczak committed medical battery by touching her without consent multiple times after the delivery of her baby. Despite withdrawing her consent, she alleges that the doctor continued, raising serious questions about patient safety and consent practices within the facility.

Recently, Martinez has alleged that Dr. Stanczak committed three felonies under Michigan Penal Code: knowingly falsifying medical charts, performing a procedure without the patient’s informed consent, and proceeding with a procedure after consent had been withdrawn. These findings have led to increased scrutiny of the physician’s practices.

Martinez reports that the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) has officially opened an investigation into the situation, bringing hope for accountability and potential changes in practices regarding patient consent. However, she has also taken her report to the Clinton Township Police Department, where she felt unheard and claims that the officers did not follow the correct procedures.

Martinez says it has been nearly impossible to escalate her situation without it being passed through her local police department. As a next step, she recently contacted the attorney general's office, expressing her intent to press criminal charges against Dr. Stanczak in a TikTok update. “I just feel extremely let down by people who are supposed to protect you,” she continued.

Since Martinez’s original video, over 40 women have come forward with similar stories, sharing their own experiences of alleged misconduct by Dr. Stanczak.

As the investigation unfolds, the community is left grappling with the impact of these serious allegations. Martinez continues to advocate for greater awareness and accountability, stressing the importance of informed consent in healthcare settings.
