Now that he's out of the NFC North, I can finally come forward with my admiration for Kirk Cousins. He’s an all-time great guy and was a standout fantasy quarterback during the 2023-24 NFL season before his season-ending injury.

Cousins, who led the Minnesota Vikings from 2018 to 2023, is embarking on a new chapter as the quarterback of the Atlanta Falcons.

In just two weeks, the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) will kick off its new season. To mark the occasion, Cousins recently delivered a heartfelt motivational message to one of Michigan's GLIAC schools, Saginaw Valley State University.

"I’m beginning another season as well, so we’re in this boat together," Cousins said.

It turns out Cousins is friends with SVSU's Athletic Director, John Lewandowski. “I owe him a great deal,” Cousins added.

The SVSU Cardinals finished their 2023-24 season with a 6-5 record and are currently ranked No. 4 in the GLIAC preseason polls, behind Ferris State, Grand Valley, and Davenport. Ferris State and Grand Valley are the only two GLIAC schools listed in the 2024 DII Football Preseason Power Rankings, coming in at No. 4 and No. 7, respectively.
